The third round of the EFL Cup.
The EFL Cup featured 17 Premier League clubs, with 10 of them playing against each other and the remaining 7 facing clubs from the English football league system’s lower tier.

DFB-POKAL – Outstanding matches

Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig were competing in the DFL-Supercup final while the other 60 of the 64 clubs were playing in the DFB-Pokal’s first round.
They will both play their rescheduled DFB-Pokal games.

COPA LIBERTADORES SEMI FINALS

The first leg fixtures of the 2023 Copa Libertadores semifinal.

Sept 27. FLUMINENSE vs. INTERNACIONAL
Sept 28. BOCA JUNIORS vs. PALMEIRAS

 

It has been an all-Brazil final in the Copa Libertadores since 2019, when Flamengo and River Plate played in the inaugural one-legged final.
If Boca Juniors does not defeat Palmeiras, the final will be an all-Brazil affair.

Fluminense will face Internacional in an all-Brazil semifinal on Wednesday.
Boca Juniors and Palmeiras will face off on Thursday.

Palmeiras has advanced to the Copa Libertadores semifinals again. Last year, they lost 3-2 on aggregate to Athletico Paranaense in the quarterfinals, denying them a third consecutive appearance in the final and a chance to defend their title. Palmeiras won the Copa Libertadores in 2021 against Flamengo.

Boca Juniors last played in the Copa Libertadores final in 2018, which was the last year of the two-legged final format and the only year that the final was contested by two teams from Argentina. Boca Juniors lost to their arch-rivals River Plate. Their most recent title was in 2007, when they defeated Gremio.

Fluminense’s best performance in the Copa Libertadores was in 2008, when they reached the final but lost to Liga de Quito in a penalty shootout after the match was tied 5-5 on aggregate. To date, Liga de Quito remains the only Ecuadorian club to win the competition.

Internacional last won the Copa Libertadores in 2010, defeating Guadalajara, the second Mexican team to reach the final of the competition.

SPANISH LA LIGA – ROUND 7

The top two teams (Barcelona and Girona) at the top of the La Liga standings at the end of the sixth round will be playing away from home for the points to hold on to their position in the standings. Barcelona will be away against Mallorca for the results that will allow them to keep hold of the top spot. Girona will be chasing the win away against Villarreal to extend their winning streak and possibly take the top spot.

After their loss in the Madrid derby, Real Madrid will be back at home to try to bounce back against newly-promoted Las Palmas, who are coming off their first win of the season. Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, will be looking to build on their Madrid derby victory with another win against Osasuna.

ITALIAN SERIE A – ROUND 6

Inter Milan, who are currently in first place, will look to maintain their perfect start to the season by winning their home game against Sassuolo, who are coming off a win over Juventus. Juventus will look to bounce back from their defeat with a victory at home against Lecce, who are unbeaten and in third place after five rounds. Napoli, who have gone three league games without a win, will hope that home support can help them get back on track to defend their title when they host Udinese.

DUTCH EREDIVISIE – OUTSTANDING MATCHES

Ajax’s match against Volendam has been postponed to allow for the completion of the abandoned weekend fixture with Feyenoord. The game was suspended in the early minutes of the second half, with Feyenoord up 3-0.
