AC Milan climbed to the top of the league table as the sole leaders.
Inter Milan dropped a position to second, while Juventus moved up to third.
Fiorentina moved up a position to 4th, as Napoli dropped two positions down to fifth.
Roma moved up to the middle of the standings.
The relegation zone has the same occupants, with Cagliari stuck at the bottom.

Empoli and Udinese shared the points in a goalless draw, fitting for how their season is going. Udinese remains without a win.
Lecce and Sassuolo bounced back from defeat in the previous round by sharing the points in a ‘1-1’ draw. Lecce had to come back from a goal down to earn the draw at home.
Bologna came from two goals down in the opening quarter of the hour to pick up a point at the San Siro in a ‘2-2’ draw with Inter Milan.

The game came alive in the second half as Juventus won another Turin derby with a ‘2-0’ win. – Torino win in the Turin derby is rare. The last time Torino won Derby della Mole was April of 2015.

A dramatic end to the Genoa and Milan fixtures as both teams picked up late red cards, and it was their goalkeepers who were the recipients. Christian Pulisic’s goal in the 87th minute decided the game for AC Milan to beat Genoa. The game opened up after Pulisic’s goal. AC Milan’s goalkeeper Mike Maignan was sent off for a reckless tackle while trying to head the ball out of his box. Olivier Giroud had to step in as a makeshift goalkeeper and made some key saves to keep the lead. Before the end of the game, Genoa’s goalkeeper Josep Martinez was also sent off. AC Milan have now won four league games in a row since their defeat in the Milan derby. – AC Milan out-paced with their city rivals (Inter) in the Serie A title race after this round.

Salernitana stayed winless after conceding a 3-0 defeat against Monza. Monza is now unbeaten in their last five league games, despite this being their first win in that streak of matches.

Matias Vecino’s 83rd-minute goal saved Lazio from blowing away a two-goal lead at home to Atalanta.

Fresh off a league victory against newly-promoted Frosinone and a win against Servette in the Europa League, a confident Roma side comfortably took apart bottom-tabled and winless Cagliari. Andrea Belotti scored two goals as Roma gained three points from a 4-0 win.

Napoli and Fiorentina shared identical records after seven league games until Fiorentina decided to change that by beating Napoli 3-1 in Naples. Napoli’s title defense season isn’t going according to plan after eight rounds, but they’ve won half of their matches.
