A numerical disadvantage did not deny Tottenham the win against Luton Town. Micky van de Ven scored the game’s only goal in the 52nd minute to keep Tottenham unbeaten in the league with a ‘1-0’ away win against newly-promoted Luton Town.

Despite going up a goal in the 15th minute, Burnley was on the wrong end of a ‘4-1’ score at home against Chelsea. The result also marked the first time Chelsea has won consecutive league games this season, as Burnley followed their first league win of the season with another defeat.

Bournemouth remains without a league win after losing ‘3-0’ on the road against Everton.

An own goal in the 68th minute got Sheffield United level after going down a goal in the 53rd minute, and it was an own goal in the 76th minute that saw them suffer another league defeat. Sheffield United lost 3-1 against Fulham to remain at the bottom of the league without a recorded win.

Super-sub Scott McTominay saved the day for Manchester United. Scott McTominay came off the bench in the 87th minute and scored two goals in added time to get Manchester United from a goal down to avoid defeat at home with a ‘2-1’ win over Brentford. Manchester United had lost their last three home league games and are on the verge of their third consecutive home defeat. A loss against Brentford would have been a fourth straight league defeat at Old Trafford for Manchester United.

Brighton was coming off a 6-1 loss to Aston Villa, and Liverpool had suffered a controversial 2-1 defeat against Tottenham. Neither side could bounce back with a league win, but a point from a 2-2 draw seems fair in the end. Mohamed Salah scored both Liverpool goals to send them into the break with a 1-0 lead. Lewis Dunk deflected in Brighton’s equalizer in the second half.

West Ham and Newcastle were both coming off 2-0 league wins against newly-promoted sides and had a successful night in their midweek continental cup football. In the end, they shared the points in a 2-2 draw. Alexander Isak scored both goals for Newcastle, and Mohammed Kudus scored his first goal for West Ham to get them an equalizer in the 89th minute.

Wolves had ended Manchester City’s perfect start, while Aston Villa had thrashed Brighton 6-1. In the end, the two sides had to settle for a point from a 1-1 draw, scoring their goals a couple of minutes apart.

Instead of getting some points to bounce back from their first league defeat of the season against Wolves, Manchester City was handed another league defeat in a 1-0 loss to Arsenal. Second-half substitute Gabriel Martinelli scored the goal to decide the game for Arsenal. The result kept Arsenal unbeaten in the league and allowed them to recover from their first defeat of the season, which was a Champions League defeat to Lens.
