Joseph Scally scored an equalizing goal in the 88th minute to see Monchengladbach avoid defeat at home and deny Mainz their first league win of the season. Mainz are seven games into the season without a win, losing 5.

Newly-promoted Darmstadt went from no wins in their first 5 league games of the season to back-to-back league wins. Darmstadt followed their ‘4-2’ home win over Werder Bremen with a ‘2-1’ away win against Augsburg.

Borussia Dortmund made things a bit difficult when they went from leading to going into the break ‘2-1’ down at home to Union Berlin, but they recovered in the second half with three goals to pick up the three points in a ‘4-2’ win against Union Berlin. The result is a 7th straight defeat for Union Berlin in all competitions (5 league games). Union Berlin have not met expectations, given their performance last season.

After dropping points at home to Bayern Munich in the league and getting thrashed at home by Manchester City in the Champions League, RB Leipzig was held to a goalless draw at home by a Bochum side that is without a league win all season. Bochum was staring at a third straight defeat in the league when they arrived in Leipzig, but they left with a point to cherish.

Serhou Guirassy scored his second hat-trick of the season to give Stuttgart a ‘3-1’ win against Wolfsburg. And just as it was when he scored his first hat-trick of the season (against Mainz), his second goal was needed to put Stuttgart in a winning position.

It was a thrilling end between Werder Bremen and Hoffenheim. Jens Stage scored what was an equalizing goal in the first minute of the final stoppage time for Werder Bremen, only for Marius Bulter to score less than a minute later to restore Hoffenheim’s lead and give the visiting team a 3-2 win. Werder Bremen followed a defeat to Darmstadt with another, while Hoffenheim got back to winning ways after losing to Dortmund.

An unbeaten Leverkusen maintained their top spot by defeating winless FC Koln. A 3-0 win for Leverkusen was the fourth straight defeat of FC Koln.

Kingsley Coman’s goals sandwiched Leroy Sane’s as Bayern Munich remained two points behind the league leaders after picking up a convincing home win against Freiburg. Bayern Munich needed the result after having to come from behind to avoid defeat in their previous league game and in their Champions League fixture.

A 2-0 win against Heidenheim was Frankfurt’s first league win of the season since their win in the opening round against Darmstadt. Both wins have come against newly-promoted clubs.
