Rayo Vallecano followed up their win against the league leaders, Barcelona, with a defeat against the bottom-ranked team, Elche. Elche recorded their first league win in eight matches, winning 4-0 against Rayo Vallecano, who suffered their fourth defeat in five games.

Real Madrid secured the three points at home against Almeria, who are fighting to avoid relegation, thanks to a first-half hat-trick from Karim Benzema.

After their defeat against Rayo Vallecano, Barcelona won 4-0 against Real Betis. Real Betis played with 10 men from the 33rd minute and with nine men from the 79th minute after Edgar Gonzalez picked up a second yellow card, and Joaquin got injured after they had used all available substitutions. In the game, Barcelona gave a debut to 15-year-old Lamine Yamal, who had some great opportunities to mark his debut with a goal or an assist.

Nicolas Jackson scored two goals within the first 12 minutes, helping Villarreal to a 3-1 home win against Celta Vigo.

Espanyol secured their first league win in nine matches with a 1-0 victory over Getafe, thanks to Joselu’s penalty. Getafe, on the other hand, lost their third game in a row, extending their run to six games without a win.

Athletic Club managed to secure a point with a late penalty in Mallorca.

Sevilla’s three-game winning streak in the league came to an end after a 2-0 defeat to Girona. Meanwhile, Girona secured back-to-back wins after defeating Real Madrid 4-2 and then securing a 2-0 victory against Sevilla.
