The top three teams got the win needed to keep up with the title race, but 4th place Sevilla ended up on the losing end of their match.
With four rounds to go, Atletico Madrid is 2 points clear in the race.
A maximum of 12 points left for each team to make their mark. All four teams at the top end of the table can achieve the goal of being league champions at the end of the season.

Eibar’s win over the weekend keeps the relegation battle going into the final rounds of the season.
Eibar is bottom of the table but 5 points from safety.
Elche and Huesca are the other teams in the relegation zone, and they are a point from safety.
This puts pressure on every team in the bottom half of the league standings.

LEADING GOALSCORER
Lionel Messi (Barcelona) – 28 goals
Karim Benzema (Real Madrid) – 21 goals
Gerard Moreno (Villarreal) – 20 goals
Luis Suarez (Atletico Madrid) – 19 goals

Two goals in the second half got Celta Vigo a successive league win to bounce back from a streak of three winless matches in the league. Celta Vigo took a 2-0 win over Levante to open up a 6-point gap between the two sides. For Levante, this marked a 4th straight league defeat.

Kike’s hattrick got bottom table Eibar a 3-0 win at home against Alaves. Kike scored three goals before the hour mark for Eibar to keep their dreams alive in their relegation avoidance battle. It might be a little too late but wins like this will surely help them achieve the improbable dream.

The three points were needed for Atletico Madrid after defeat in the last round. Marcos Llorente’s goal in the 23rd minute ended up being enough to get Atletico Madrid through Elche. Fidel Chaves had the opportunity from the penalty spot to secure a point for the home side but failed to do so.

A late goal handed Huesca a victory over Real Sociedad. Considering that the reverse fixture was a 4-1 victory for Real Sociedad, and Huesca is currently under the threat of relegation, this would be an unexpected result to many.

It took some time but the goals came through for Real Madrid in the final 15 minutes of play, and it wasn’t from their forwards either. Eder Militao opened the scoring in the 76th minute to get Real Madrid the winning goal, and Casemiro doubled the lead in less than five minutes.

Shon Weissman had his first goal ruled out by VAR for offside but his second goal in the 68th-minute stood to get Real Valladolid a point at home in a 1-1 draw with Real Betis. With the threat of relegation, Valladolid can’t leave any match empty-handed. A point might not be ideal but it is better than none.

A 1-0 victory for Villarreal ended a run of successive 2-1 defeats. Villarreal took the three points against Getafe through a goal from Yeremi Pinto in the 79th-minute.
Granada followed up a win at Camp Nou over Barcelona with a defeat to Cadiz. Ruben Sobrino scored the only goal of the match in the first half to get Cadiz an away victory against Granada. The result narrowed the points between the two sides to five.

Lionel Messi was on the score sheet twice for Barcelona to come from behind a win 3-2 at Valencia.

Sevilla’s title hopes took a beating when Inaki Willaims scored the only goal of the match in the 90th minute to hand Athletic Club a 1-0 win at Sevilla.
