It took two penalty kicks to deny Lille any points in this match.  At halftime, Lille was a goal up courtesy of Marcos Lopes. Mevlut Erdinc tied it up for the home team in the 56th minute, but Marcos Lopes restored Lille’s lead in the 14 minutes later. It was a battle between the two, as Erdinc converted a penalty in the 76th minute to tie things up and  Yann Jouffre’s 88th-minute penalty deciding the tie.

Caen 3-2 Lorient

Last season seventh place Caen defeated 15th placed Lorient by 3 goals to 2. Ivan Santini scored a late winner for the home team in the 87th minute. At the end of the first half, both teams had found the net twice.

Benjamin Moukandjo, Lorient top goalscorer in the 2015/16 season gave his team a dream start by scoring two goals in the first twenty minutes of the match. An early goal in the 5th minute and a goal from a spot in the 19th minute.

Nancy 0-3 Lyon

Olympique Lyonnais finished second in 2015/16, and if they are to do better than that they will need to healthy start to their season. A 3-0 away win over newly promoted Nancy was definitely not a surprising scoreline, and the start Lyon needed to put some pressure on title favorites PSG.

589480162

All the goals in this match came from Lyon’s prolific goal scorer, Alexandre Lacazette. In his first match of the season, Lacazette goes home with 3 points for his team and the match ball. With last season’s top goalscorer out of the league, this position is open for another player to take the crown.

Nice 1-0 Rennes

Last season 4th place finisher; Nice also began their campaign with a 1-0 home win over Rennes.

Marseille 0-0 Toulouse

Marseille disappointing season seems to continue as they failed to win their home match against Toulouse, a side that finished last seasons a point above the drop zone.
