Borussia Dortmund was defeated at the home stadium by the defending German champions; Bayern Munich.
Two second half goals for Bayern gave the team a winning start ahead of their 2017 Bundesliga title campaign. It was Carlos Ancelotti first title with his new team, and he and the fans would be expecting more domestic titles in the near future.
Arturo Vidal and Thomas Muller were the goal scorers. Vidal gave Bayern the lead in the 58th minute, and Muller doubled in with just about ten minutes of regular game time left to be played.
Borussia Dortmund is already looking at the risk of settling for the second spot in German football for another season.
