Liverpool followed a 7-0 win against Manchester United (3rd in the league), with a 1-0 defeat against a Bournemouth side that started the round in 20th place (last in the league). Bournemouth had been beaten 4-1 by Manchester City in their previous home fixture and came into this fixture after blowing a 2-goal lead to lose (3-2) in the dying minutes against Arsenal. This is why we watch football. Liverpool had an opportunity to get even on the scoreboard but Mohamed Salah completely missed the frame of the goal with his penalty kick in the 73rd minute.

Leeds United got a point at home from a 2-2 draw with Brighton. Jack Harrison’s goal in the 78th minute canceled out his own-goal in the 61st minute.

Chelsea had a couple of goals called off by VAR but they are now on a 3-match winning streak, with 6 goals scored within that run. Kai Havertz scored the game-winning goal in the 6th minute of the first half stoppage time after Ben Chilwell’s 11th-minute lead had been canceled by Patson Daka’s goal in the 39th minute.

Tottenham is back to a win after Champions League elimination, and FA Cup elimination, and a league defeat against Wolves. A first-half brace from Harry Kane and second half goal from Heung Min Son funded a 3-1 win for Tottenham against Nottingham Forest.

Dwight McNeil’s goal in the opening minute of the match ended up being enough for Everton to seal a 1-0 win at home against Brentford. It was Brentford’s first league defeat in 13 matches.

Erling Haaland’s goal from the penalty spot handed Manchester City three points through a narrow 1-0 win against Crystal Palace.

Leandro Trossard assisted three goals in the opening half for Arsenal to use three first-half goals to extract three points from Fulham with a 3-0 win.

The best Manchester United could do after their ‘7-0’ thrashing at Anfield was a goalless draw at home with bottom-tabled Southampton. Manchester United had to play with 10 men from the 34th minute. Casemiro picked up a straight red card for an accidental but reckless tackle.

Newcastle United beat Wolves ‘2-1’ to win their first league game in 6 attempts.
