2018/19 Spanish La Liga – Round 2 – all the title favorites find a victory in the second round

The league title favorites were all winners as Barcelona and Real Madrid doubled their wins and Atletico Madrid gets their first of the season at home.

Getafe started their home record with a win by defeating Eibar. A ‘2-0’ score keeps Eibar winless and without a point on the league table.

Nabil El Zhar saved Leganes from another La Liga defeat with his two goals against Real Sociedad. Leganes came from two goals down to finish with a point, while denying Real Sociedad the opportunity to contest for the top spot in the league standings.

Deportivo Alaves and Real Betis secured their first point of the season after a goalless draw. Antoine Griezmann scored the only goal of the match to get Atletico Madrid their first win of the season in a victory against newly-promoted Rayo Vallecano.

Tough pitch and a tough win to get, but thanks to VAR Barcelona came survived a late scare to secure maximum points and remain undefeated without the concession of a goal.
Ousmane Dembele found the winning goal for Barcelona to make it a perfect start to their title defense season by picking up another 3 points in an away victory over newly-promoted Real Valladolid.

Valencia is winless after a ‘2-0’ defeat to Espanyol. A goalless draw at home against Villarreal denies Sevilla a chance to compete for the top spot in the league standings. Goal difference lifted Real Madrid to the top of the league standings after coming from a goal down to win by 3 goals in their away fixture with Girona.

Jose Luis Morales reduced the deficit with a goal from a penalty in the 78th minute but Levante on home grounds could bounce back from going 2-goals down in the first-half to avoid their first defeat to Celta Vigo.

Four second-half goals were split evenly as newly-promoted Huesca fought their way back to get a draw against Athletic Club.
