2018/19 English Premier League – Round 3 – Manchester United is humiliated at Old Trafford

It’s 3 wins out of three for Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, and Watford. Both Manchester clubs did not find a victory in the third round of the 2018/19 season.

Manchester City dropped a couple of points on their visit to Wolverhampton.

Who would’ve thought that Wolverhampton Wanderers were going to get their first point of the season against the defending league champions?
Willy Boly’s attempt at a dive in header ended sending the ball into the net with his hand. The goal stood and Wolverhampton took the lead in the second half.
Had VAR been introduced in the Premier League, Manchester City would have been winners of the day and Wolverhampton Wanderers would be still searching for their first point of the season.
Aymeric Laporte scored the equalizing goal in the 69th minute for Manchester City to take a point from the match. Not less than what they deserved.

A red card, 2 goals, and point for both Bournemouth and Everton.
Bournemouth avoided defeat at home to Everton by coming from 2 goals down to remain undefeated in the league after 3 matches.

West Ham United couldn’t hold on to their goal lead and couldn’t finish the chances that came their way against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Both teams and their new managers were in desperate need for a victory after suffering defeats in their opening two matches, but it was Arsenal that rose up to the occasion and finished off their chances to get their first victory of the season in front of their home supporters.
After a ‘1-1’ score at the half, Arsenal’s introduction of Alexandre Lacazette increased the intensity of their attack and eventually broke through West Ham United defense.

Huddersfield Town and newly-promoted Cardiff City played out a goalless draw. Harry Maguire struck in a ground shot in additional time to get Leicester City the winning goal against Southampton.

Mohamed Salah was the only name on the scoresheet after Liverpool picked up another victory to keep their record perfect. 3 wins out of 3, 7 goals scored and none conceded.

24 goals – Wilfried Zaha scored to be Crystal Palace’s record goalscorer in the Premier League, but it wasn’t enough to stop Watford from making its 3 wins out of three in their season-opening matches.
In a thrilling 6-goal fixture, Aleksandar Mitrovic scored two goals as Fulham won their first league match since promotion against Burnley.

Chelsea makes it 3 wins out of 3. Newcastle United’s defensive approach failed late in the game to leave them winless after a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea.

It can be argued that a clinical Romelu Lukaku could have written a different headline for Manchester United.
In the final match of the round, it was a humiliation at Old Trafford for Manchester United after conceding three goals in the second half against Tottenham Hotspur. Lucas Moura scored a brace to add to Harry Kane’s winning goal to grant Tottenham a historic victory at Old Trafford.
