In the last 20 World Cups, only three have ended with multiple players tied as top goalscorers in the competition (1962, 1994, and 2010), and only three World Cup has had the top scorer score a double-digit amount of goals (1954, 1958, and 1970)

The first time multiple players finished as top scorers was in 1962 World Cup in Chile. A record 6 players finished as top scorers in that tournament.

USA 1994 had two top goalscorers with 6 goals each.

Oleg Salenko (Russia) – The only player to be a top scorer without his team advancing to the knock-out phase of the tournament.

Four players finished as top scorers with 5 goals each in South Africa 2010
