Group H Briefing
Poland
Qualified directly from the UEFA – ‘Group E’ winner
This will be Poland’s 8th participation in the World Cup. Their last appearance was in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
Poland comes back to the tournament after 12 years.
It was a comfortable journey through qualification, so time will tell how this Polish side can handle the pressure when they meet one of the tournament favorites.
Advancing from the preliminary round will be the goal for the Polish team.

Senegal
Qualified directly from the CAF – ‘Group D’ winner
This will be Senegal’s 2nd participation in a FIFA World Cup.
In their first ever FIFA World Cup match, Senegal surprised the football world when they handed the defending champions (France) a defeat in the opening match of the 2002 FIFA World Cup. They finished the tournament as a quarterfinalist.
It might not be easy for Senegal to replicate their 2002 performance, but it we know what they are capable of doing.

Colombia
Qualified directly from the CONMEBOL – 4th place finish
This will be Colombia’s 6th participation in the World Cup. Their last appearance was in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, where they were eliminated in the quarterfinals by the host nation.
This is a generation of Colombian players that are going into the tournament with higher than the normal expectations from their fans. The talent is there to compete with the best in the world, but will that be enough?

Japan
Qualified directly from the AFC – ‘Group B’ winner
Japan has now been a part of every World Cup since 1998. It will be their 6th participation in the FIFA World Cup. Their last appearance was in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Their best performance has been a Round of 16 finish on two occasions.
