Ukraine had many great opportunities to equalize their 1-0 deficit during the match. Luck was on the German sides on several occasions to keep Ukraine from tying things up. A goal for Ukraine would have changed the match.
Had the match stayed goalless for a longer time, Germany would have had a harder battle to get the maximum point from this match.
It was a good win for the Germans, ad it showed they can deal with a team that will put the pressure on their defense.
Ukraine is not done yet. Despite losing their first match, there is a great chance of qualifying for the knockout stage if the can be more clinical around the goal.
Ukraine will take on Northern Ireland in their Group C match, while Germany takes on Poland. A win for the two team will put them in a healthy position to advance from the group.
