Wales were victorious in their first ever European Championship match. And the story got better as their best player of this generation scored the first ever goal Wales first ever goal in European Championship. Gareth Bale free kick goal gave Wales an early lead over Slovakia.

It was also Slovakia’s first participation in the European Championship. Unlike Wales, their first match was a defeat, but Ondrej Duda scored their first goal in the competition on their debut.

Despite the different end to the story these two European Championship debutants, this was a match that could have gone either way. Wales were well organized as a team and played the football they were comfortable with. Slovakia attacked with intent, and at no point in the match would you feel that a goal was beyond them.

With Gareth Bale scoring and putting Wales 1-0 up in the 10th minute, it felt like things were just going according to the script for Wales football.
With the quality that Wales possessed in their midfield, this was a match they had to win. Their next match is going to be against England, and with their similar style of play, the quality on the English team might make the match a tough one.

A minute after Ondrej Duda was subbed into the match, he scored the equalizing goal for Slovakia.

Robson-Kanu found the winner for Wales in the 81st minute. Slovakia was looking like a team that was ready to settle for a draw. In the 81st minute, Wales late push for a goal was rewarded with a goal from Robson-Kanu. Slovakia’s defense looked to have their position covered, but a slight deflection on the ball placed it in a position for Robson-Kanu to shoot is at goal. The shot lacked power but had accuracy.
