The most successful team in the competition’s history added to their success by coming from a goal down to get a draw that stretched the final into penalty kickoffs.
Sevilla picked up their 7th Europa League title by beating Roma ‘4-1’ in a penalty shootout after a ‘1-1’ draw.

Roma was looking for their second continental title in two years but found themselves as another victim of Sevilla in an Europa League final.

Since neither side can qualify for the Champions League through the league table, this was the route for Sevilla and Roma to get to the Champions League.
Sevilla got the ticket to the Champions League.
Roma will at least qualify for the Conference League through the league, if not the Europa League.

Sevilla finished third in their UEFA Champions League group behind Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund, and were eliminated. They then beat PSV Eindhoven in the knockout playoffs to reach the Europa League Round of 16. They went on to beat Fenerbahce, Manchester United, and Juventus in the Round of 16, quarterfinals, and semifinals, respectively.

Roma finished second in their Europa League group, behind Real Betis. They then beat RB Salzburg, Real Sociedad, Feyenoord, and Leverkusen to reach the final. Roma last won this competition in 1991, but they qualified for the Europa League as winners of the Europa Conference League.
