It was three consecutive loss for Dinamo Zagreb in the competition.

Samir Nasri’s first-half goal was enough to give Sevilla an away win over Dinamo Zagreb. It wasn’t less than what Sevilla deserved from their efforts.

 

Lyon               0-1         Juventus

                                       Juan Cuadrado 76’

 

Juan Cuadrado’s brilliance in the 76th minute broke the hearts of Lyon fans after Gianluigi Buffon’s heroics helped Juventus maintain a clean sheet to grab their second win of the competition.

Juventus survived a first half penalty and being numerically disadvantaged to get an away win at Lyon.

It is three out of three for Leicester City in their first ever UEFA Champions League participation. Leicester City has more points in the UCL than they have managed to secure in the title defense season in the Premier League.

It was three consecutive losses for Club Brugge as Porto had to come from a goal down to get their first win of the competition. 

A late penalty awarded against the home teams allowed for Porto to take an away three points from Club Brugge.

Monaco maintained an undefeated run in the Champions League while denying CSKA Moscow their first win in the competition by converting a late penalty to get an away draw.

Bayer Leverkusen was unable to break down Tottenham Hotspurs after a number of great chances.

The defending champions at home to Legia Warsaw gave fans the scoreline majority would have expected.  The only thing Real Madrid  failed to do was getting Cristiano Ronaldo to add to his goal tally in the UCL.

An easy night at the Emirates for Arsenal.

Arsenal was comfortably sitting on three goals before Mesut Ozil scored a hattrick to see Arsenal thrash Ludogorets Razgrad. It was a win that shot Arsenal to the top of the table in Group A.

It was an expected home victory for Paris Saint-Germain over Basel. With Arsenal banging in goals against Ludogorets, Paris Saint-Germain couldn’t afford to slip up against Basel.

A brace from Vincent Aboubakar gave Besiktas their first win in the competition at the expense of Napoli.

Napoli scored 50% of the penalties that were awarded to them in the second half. The scoreline might have been different if Napoli was more clinical in front of the goal.

Lorenzo Insigne missed a second-half penalty that would have evened up the score when Napoli was 2-1 down. Manolo Gabbiadini evened up the score for Napoli through a penalty in the 69th minute, but Vincent Aboubakar scored the final goal of the match to give Besiktas an away victory that puts them a point behind Napoli in the league table.

Messi once again reminded Pep Guardiola what he left behind.

In the most highly anticipated match of the day, Barcelona defeated Manchester City 4 goals to nil.

Both teams finished the match with a player red-carded off the pitch, Messi scored a hattrick, and Neymar scored a well-worked goal to apologize to Barcelona fans for a missed penalty.

A return to the Nou Camp for Pep Guardiola and Claudio Bravo ended in a defeat.

Manchester City’s Claudio Bravo was sent off for handling the ball outside the penalty box to deny a goalscoring opportunity. Two minutes after Jeremy Mathieu was awarded a yellow card for a tackle on Raheem Sterling, the pace of Sterling forced Mathieu into a sliding tackle that resulted in a second yellow card for the player.

It was an expected home win for Bayern.

Bayern Munich bounced back from their away defeat to Atletico Madrid with a ‘4-1’ defeat of PSV Eindhoven. The result leaves PSV winless after three UCL matches.
