We won’t tell you to cancel plans that you’ve made, but you won’t regret if you did so to watch these matches over the weekend.

This Weekend’s Top Fixtures.

Athletic Club – Real Madrid (La Liga)

March 18, 2017

Real Madrid is going for the league title. Four seasons without a league title is too long for a team like Madrid.

The first league match against Athletic Club was not an easy win for Real Madrid, but Madrid will need to defeat an ambitious Athletic Club side to take another step towards the title.

Real Madrid has a match in hand and two points clear on top of the league, but there is still no room for error.

AFC Bournemouth – Swansea City (Premier League)

March 18, 2017

A repeat of the first meeting will surely be ideal for the home side. AFC Bournemouth came out on top in the first meeting after securing a ‘3-0’ away victory.

Victory for Swansea City will tie them in points accumulated in the league standings, while defeat will see them fall 6 points behind Bournemouth.

Mathematically, these two sides are relegation threatened. Every point accumulated helps in their bid to stay in the top-flight for another year.

Manchester City – Liverpool ( Premier League)

March 19, 2017

A clash between two preseason title favorites.

Current league standing: Manchester City (3rd), Liverpool (4th)

Victory for Liverpool will see overtake Manchester City in the league standings and could see them climb up as far as to the second position in the league standings.

With the right results around the stadium, City could also find themselves in the second spot with a victory. Manchester City will be hoping to return the favor and get a home victory that will help them at the very least maintain their third place position in the league standings.

Paris Saint-Germain – Lyon (French Ligue 1)

March 19, 2017

Title defense season has not been that great for Paris Saint-Germain.

With Monaco not missing a beat in the league, a fifth consecutive league title for PSG is not looking likely.

Paris Saint-Germain can’t afford to drop points if they intend on keeping up with Monaco.

Despite being thirteen points away from the top three teams in the league, fourth-placed Lyon could affect the title race in this fixture.  If there is any team outside the top three teams to upset the defending champions, Lyon would be that team.

Atletico Madrid – Sevilla (La Liga)

March 19, 2017

After getting knocked out of UEFA Champions League by Leicester City, Sevilla is in need of something to pick them up. Unfortunately for Sevilla, an away fixture against Atletico Madrid is not the place to expect the greatest of results. Even teams that are well-assembled have a hard time at the Estadio Vicente Calderon.

Fortunately for Sevilla, they sit in third place and have created a five-point gap between themselves and fourth-placed Atletico Madrid in the league standings.

The objective for Atletico Madrid will be to get a home victory that will cut the point-gap down to 2 points.
