BUNDESLIGA – Round 9

Union Berlin, Freiburg, Bayern Munich, Dortmund, Hoffenheim, and Frankfurt are in a position to make an impactful move in the early title race this weekend.

Union Berlin’s first defeat of the season did not cost them their position at the top of the league table but dropping points in this round will likely do that. Union Berlin will hope to follow their 2-0 defeat at Frankfurt with a win at Stuttgart.

Freiburg has remained unbeaten in all competitions since losing to Dortmund in the second round of the Bundesliga season. Freiburg will be in Berlin for the points against Hertha Berlin.

Dortmund and Bayern Munich are on equal points, two points away from the top of the table, and a point away from exiting the ‘top four’.

Hoffenheim will host Werder Bremen for the opening match of the round. Hoffenheim is a point out of the top four and two points ahead of a Werder Bremen side that is coming to the fixture from a 5-1 win against Monchengladbach.

Frankfurt has the most ideal opponent for the round; a winless bottom-tabled Bochum.

October 7: HOFFENHEIM vs Werder Bremen
October 8: Bochum vs FRANKFURT
October 8: DORTMUND vs BAYERN MUNICH
October 9: Hertha Berlin vs FREIBURG
October 9: Stuttgart vs UNION BERLIN

SERIE A – Round 9

Napoli and Atalanta are leading the Italian Serie A title race unbeaten but Udinese, Lazio, AC Milan, and Roma are not making it a comfortable ride.

Atalanta will be playing away against Udinese. A point separates the two teams in the league. Udinese will use a home win to leap above Atalanta in the standings (potentially to the top of the league) and also end their unbeaten start to the season.

An unbeaten Napoli will travel to face a winless Cremonese.

Despite their poor start to the season, Juventus will always be a major test for any team. AC Milan will host Juventus. There is four points between the two teams. AC Milan can widen it to 7 or Juventus can tighten it to 1.

Roma will be looking for a home win against Lecce to take advantage of the “AC Milan vs Juventus” results.

October 8: AC MILAN vs Juventus
October 9: UDINESE vs ATALANTA
Octboer 9: Cremonese vs NAPOLI
October 9: ROMA vs Leece
October 10: Fiorentina vs LAZIO

EREDIVISIE – Round 9

AZ Alkmaar, Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, Feyenoord, and Twente are leading the Dutch Eredivisie title race.

The last round saw Ajax and Feyenoord drop two points in their respective fixtures after playing out a 1-1 draw. Ajax at home to Go Ahead Eagles, Feyenoord away against NEC Nijmegen.

PSV Eindhoven will hope to use their match against Heerenveen to find a win that will help make up for the 3-0 defeat they suffered against Cambuur last round.

AZ Alkmaar is top of the charts by a point. A win is certainly required to remain in their position. AZ Alkmaar will want to follow their 4-1 win against Groningen with another against Utrecht.

Ajax has an ideal fixture to get points. They face bottom-tabled and newly-promoted Volendam.

Feyenoord will battle for their place in the ‘top 4’ against Twente. There is a point between the two teams.

October 8: Volendam vs AJAX
October 9: Utrecht vs AZ ALKMAAR
October 9: FEYENOORD vs Twente
