Daniel Rodriguez scored the only goal of the match in the 59th minute for Mallorca to make up for their 1-0 defeat in their last league match with a 1-0 win against Celta Vigo.

Real Sociedad win 2-0 on the road against Rayo Vallecano. Alexander Sorloth and Ander Barrenetxea scored the goals to give Real Sociedad a 2-0 first-half lead that held for them to pick up their fifth straight league victory in nine straight wins in all competitions.

Martin Braithwaite scored the game’s only goal to hand Espanyol a victory at home against a Real Betis side that was coming from penalty shootout defeats and eliminations in the Super Cup semifinal, and the Copa del Rey ‘Round of 16’.

Atletico Madrid got the job done in the first half when they got the three goals to lead them to the three points. It’s five straight defeats in the league for Valladolid, as Atletico Madrid ended a run of two league matches without a win.

Ivan Rakitic converted from the penalty spot to get Sevilla the maximum points against Cadiz in the 89th minute.

Gerard Moreno’s penalty missed in the added minutes did not do the damage it should have done because Dani Parejo scored the winning goal in the eleventh minute of the added time to win the game for Villarreal.

Almeria came from a goal down on two occasions in the second half to take a point in a 2-2 draw with Valencia. A point remains between the two sides but Valencia has the advantage and a game in hand. It could have been an Almeria win had Largie Ramazani converted from the penalty spot in the 45th minute to send them into the halftime break with a goal lead.
