SPANISH LA LIGA after Round 34.

MATCH RESULTS

Sevilla 1-1 Cadiz
Alaves 2-1 Villarreal
Real Madrid 4-0 Espanyol
Valencia 1-1 Levante
Atheltic Club 2-0 Atletico Madrid
Elche 1-1 Osasuna
Granada 1-1 Celta Vigo
Rayo Vallecano 1-1 Real Sociedad
Barcelona 2-1 Mallorca
Getafe 0-0 Real Betis

The title stayed in Madrid but on the other side of town.
Real Madrid is 15 points clear at the top and as the league winners.
Real Madrid became the Spanish champion for a record 35th time.
A point was all they needed but Real Madrid picked up three from a comfortable 4-0 win against Espanyol.

Sevilla dropped points against Cadiz in the opening game of the round to allow Barcelona to pull two points away with a win against Mallorca.

Atletico Madrid was the only ‘top four’ side to suffer a defeat in this round. The damage of Atletico Madrid’s defeat was not as severe as it could’ve been because Real Betis and Real Sociedad both failed to come up with a victory in their respective matches.

Instead of moving a point away from Champions League qualification, Real Betis couldn’t find the victory against Getafe to take full advantage of Atletico Madrid’s defeat.

The draw for Getafe puts them just a win away from safety.
Villarreal (current Champions League semifinalist) was beaten by bottom-tabled Levante.
