After one-third of the season, Girona is leading the La Liga standings by two points, and four points ahead of the defending champions. Girona, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, and Athletic Club all had to come from behind to win their matches. Real Betis fell one place, while Sevilla moved up two places after drawing in the Seville derby.

Thirteen rounds into the La Liga season, and Celta Vigo has managed only one win. Iago Aspas scored the opening goal in the 25th minute, but his failure to convert a penalty in the 72nd minute cost his side the game. Alex Berenguer scored in the 8th minute of added time, securing Athletic Club a 4-3 victory over Celta Vigo.

Genoa came from a goal down to win 2-1 in Madrid against Rayo Vallecano, a side that denied Real Madrid a home win in the last round.
The winning goal for Real Sociedad came in the first minute of added time, with Carlos Fernandez scoring from the penalty spot to put them 2-1 up against Almeria. Marin Zubimendi doubled the lead four minutes later to get Real Sociedad a ‘3-1’ away win to rebound from their defeat agaisnt Barcelona with three points aganst Almeria sided that remains winless in the league.
An early lead in the second minute of teh match couldn’t propel Getafe to a win over a Granada side with one win since the start of the season. They settled for a 1-1 draw.

Dani Carvajal scored in the third minute, getting Real Madrid on to secure a 5-1 victory over Valencia. It was a crucial win for Madrid after dropping points at home in their last league game. It was Valencia’s first defeat in six games (5 league games).
The ‘Mallorca vs. Cadiz’ match was postponed as Vedat Muriqi had to play for Kosovo in the Euro qualifiers, leaving Mallorca without a key player.
Alaves took a dream lead after just 20 seconds, but they failed to build on their advantage with the numerous chances they got in the first half, and were pegged back by Barcelona in the second half. Robert Lewandowski scored twice to give Barcelona a ‘2-1’ victory.

The points were shared in the Seville Derby. Ivan Rakitic scored the equalizing goal in the 79th minute, saving Sevilla from a home defeat after Ayoze Perez had put Real Betis in the lead for about five minutes.

Gerard Moreno scored in the 20th minute to give Villarreal a goal advantage, but the first half ended with Axel Witsel scoring in the first minute of added time to level it for Atletico Madrid. Antoine Griezmann then scored the game-winner with 10 minutes left in regulation time, before Dias Lino added another goal five minutes later for Atletico Madrid to come from behind and win ‘3-1’ over Villarreal.
