The Portuguese Preimeira Liga makes it’s return to complete the 2019/20 season. – It’s a tight ‘two-horse’ race between Porto and Benfica

The Portuguese Primeira Liga stays a two-horse race.

Benfica won the 2018/19 season title 2 points ahead of Porto (87 and 85),

and it’s looking like it will be a close title race between the two teams again.

With 27 points left to play for in the 2019/20 season, Benfica and Porto are tied on 60 points.

A ‘2-1’ away defeat for Porto was an opportunity for Benfica to open a 2 point lead at the top of the Primeira Liga table.

A goalless draw at home against Tondela was enough for Benfica to end up at the top of the league table, but they failed to take maximum advantage of the opportunity they had.

Braga and Sporting CP complete the current ‘top four’ spots in the league.
