The Parisian dominance – a desperate need domestic competition for PSG

Does Paris St. Germain need a formidable domestic competition? Should Monaco get relegated at the end of the season, the competition for Ligue 1 title on paper reduces. A lot of pretenders but there isn’t a real contender.

How do you ‘1-up’ winning five titles in the past 6 seasons? Stay unbeaten and win all matches. The defending  French Champions are running away with the title.

(Even though they are still included amongst the favorites to win in most competitions)Paris St. Germain would be heavy favorites in all footballing competitions this year had it not been for the challenge in the UEFA Champions League.
Napoli has been the only team to deny Paris St. Germain from scoring 2+ goals in a match since the start of the 2018.19 Ligue 1 season.

Why does Ligue 1 need more title-challengers? You just have to take a look at the positive statistics in the league.

They are 13 points clear at the top of the league standings.
They have one of the two current top goal scorers in the league in Kylian Mbappe
They have the top ‘Assist’ provider in the league in Angel Di Maria
They have the player with the most successful dribbler and take-on on the team in Neymar
They’ve scored the most goals In the league (45).
They’ve conceded the fewest amount of goals (7)
They’ve averaged 3.5 goals per match while conceding an average of 0.6 goals per match
