The Italian Serie A after 28 rounds: AC Milan takes the top spot from Napoli.

ITALIAN SERIE A – Round 28
Juventus is creeping up but it’s the Milan clubs and Napoli remains as the main contenders for the title.

There were no positional changes outside of the top three positions.
AC Milan beat Napoli to knock them from the top of the standings and take a 2-point lead in the title race.

With 10 rounds left to go of the Serie A season for most of the clubs,
AC Milan gets a 2-point lead at the top of the standings but Inter Milan has a game in hand to make up the difference with a victory.

Juventus is 7 points from the top.

Atalanta (with a game in hand) is sandwiched between Juventus and Roma; with Juventus moving away and Roma closing in on them. Atalanta is getting dragged further away from the entrance of the Champions League qualifying spot.

Roma remained a point and a position ahead of Lazio.

A hattrick from Lautaro Martinez and a brace from Edin Dzeko handed Inter Milan a comfortable ‘5-0’ win against Salernitana.
Inter Milan’s first win in their last six competitive matches and their first win from their last five league matches.

Tammy Abraham’s 20th goal for Roma handed his side a ‘1-0’ victory against Atalanta. Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Roma) and Marten de Roon (Atalanta) were sent off at the tail end of the match. 

Even though there were just two wins in their unbeaten streak, A 3-0 home defeat against Lazio was Cagliari’s first defeat in six games. Lazio needed a result to make up for their late defeat to Napoli in the last round.

Sassuolo converted their chances from the penalty spot to grab three points in Venice through a 4-1 win over Venezia.

Torino remains a point ahead of Bologna after splitting the points in a goalless draw.

They might be limping but Juventus is covering a distance many didn’t think they could at the start of the season. Alvaro Morata’s goal was enough to get Juventus all the points and go 14 matches unbeaten in the league. [9 wins, 5 draws]

Giroud sent Milan to the top.
The reverse fixture saw Napoli win 1-0 in Milan. AC Milan returned the favor this round. Olivier Giroud’s goal in the 49th minute allowed AC Milan to leave Naples with the maximum points from a 1-0 win.
