Napoli scored in the added minutes of both halves to come from a goal down to get a win against bottom-table Salernitana. With two defeats and a draw from their last three league games, defending champions Napoli were in desperate need to avoid dropping points this weekend, especially against a club that is bottom of the league table.
Hellas Verona bounced back from a ‘2-1’ defeat to Inter Milan in the last round with a win by the same score against Empoli. Both clubs have some work to do if they want to escape the relegation threat.
Inter Milan holds their spot at the top. Hakan Calhanoglu and Lautaro Martinez scored a brace each in Inter Milan’s 5-2 win against Monza.
It has been a good run of five games for Lazio, with 4 league wins and a Derby win in the Coppa Italia against Roma. Felipe Anderson scored the game’s only goal in the 58th minute to get Lazio a win this weekend against Lecce.
Riccardo Calafiori’s own goal gave Cagliari a ‘2-1 win against Bologna. A result that meant Bologna’s last four matches have been three league games without a win and an elimination from the Coppa Italia.
In pursuit of league points, AC Milan and Roma faced each other following their midweek Coppa Italia exits at the quarterfinal stage. AC Milan increased their lead over Roma to 13 points with a win, keeping pace with the top two teams while keeping Roma out of contention for a top-six finish. It was a close game, but AC Milan was more clinical in attack. Yacine Adli’s goal in the 11th minute gave AC Milan the early lead, and Olivier Giroud’s goal in the 56th minute proved to be the game-winner in a 3-1 victory.
Atalanta took a commanding lead, scoring three goals within the opening 15 minutes, ultimately securing a comfortable ‘5-0’ victory over Frosinone. Frosinone have won only once in their last nine competitive matches, a stunning 4-0 victory in Naples that knocked Napoli out of the Coppa Italia. They have lost seven of those nine games, including their last five, four of which were in Serie A, following a 5-0 defeat to Atalanta.
