The German Bundesliga after Round 20 – It was a ‘close call’ but Bayern didn’t slip up.

GERMAN BUNDESLIGA

The top 7 teams kept their position in the standings, but only the first 5 picked up wins from the round.
Bayern Munich maintained their 7 point lead after winning the opening match of the round.
Leipzig kept Schalke at the bottom of the league table.

Mainz win against Union Berlin pushes Schalke further away from leaving the bottom of the league standings.

Despite a Bayern win, Robert Lewandowski was not on the score sheet.
None of the top three scorers coming into the round found a goal to add to their tally.

Wout Weghorst scored the winning goal in Wolfsburg’s win at Augsburg. Weghorst’s goal placed him joint-third in the list of goalscorers.

Kingley Coman’s shot was helped by def;ection to get Bayern Munich the only goal of the match for a win away against Hertha Berlin.

Wout Wghorst was on the scoresheet once again to help lead Wolfsburg to seal their 4th straight win in the league with a 2-0 win at Augsburg.

Demarai Gray’s debut at Leverkusen was marked with a goal. Gray scored the last goal for Leverkusen to cap off a 5-2 win at Stuttgart. Kerem Dmirbay scored the opening two goals of the match to send Leverkusen to the break with a 2-0 lead. The lead was technically cancelled out by Sasa Kalajdzic’s two goals for Stuttgart.

Youssofo Moukoko came in at the hour mark and scored to half the deficit, but it couldn’t get Dortmund to avoid suffering a 2-1 defeat at Freiburg. The result meant Dortmund have a single win in their last 5 league games (3 defeats), while Freiburg got 2 points away from equalling Dortmund’s point tally in the standings.

Moussa Niahate converted from the penalty spot to get Mainz the three points at home against Union Berlin. It’s now 4 games without a win for Union Berlin (3 defeats and a draw).

RB Leipzig got the win at Schalke to keep up in the title race. A late goal in the opening half and two more in the final 20 minutes handed RB Leipzig a 3-0 win.

Elvis Rexhbecaj gave FC Koln an early lead; which he had to restore in the second half, for FC Koln to leave with a 2-1 win against Monchengladbach.

Frankfurt completed a league double on Hoffenheim to keep 4th spot in the league.
