French Ligue 1 after 36 rounds

It is a season to forget for Lille. They are officially the worst performers among the defending champions. Monaco picked up a 2-1 win at Lille because Aurelian Tchouameni scored another goal to restore the lead he had given Monaco in the first half after Angel Gomes evened the score for Lille in the 69th minute.

Lyon went from a win at Marseille to a defeat at Metz.
Moussa Dembele scored two goals to even the score for Lyon but it was not enough to save them from defeat at Metz.
Farid Boulaye scored a 90th-minute winning goal to restore the lead for Metz to get a 3-2 victory.

Bordeaux is on the brink of relegation after a 4-1 defeat at Angers.
The best finish in the league for Bordeaux will be the relegation playoffs spot.

Marseille wins 3-0 at Lorient to restore 3-point security for second place.

Two second-half goals including an injury-time winner allowed Lens to leave Reims with three points after being down a goal in the first half.

NICE IS STILL TOUCHING DISTANCE FROM CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUALIFICATION. MONACO IS THE TEAM STANDING IN THEIR WAY.

May 11.
Nice 4-2 Saint-Etienne
Nantes 2-1 Rennes

Nantes and Nice missed out on the weekend festivities in Ligue 1 because of their Coupe de France final.

Nantes followed their Coupe de France title win with a league win against Rennes. Despite it not being intentional, Nantes did Nice a favor by beating Rennes. The result allowed Nice to take 4th place in the league with their win against Saint-Etienne.

Saint-Etienne couldn’t hold on to a lead that would’ve relegated Metz.
Andy Delort scored Nice’s equalizing goal and game winning goal within 2 minutes from the hour mark to get Nice from two goals down in the first half to a 3-2 lead in the second half. It endined a 4-2 win for Nice to sit in a touching distance from Champions League playoff qualification.
