Real Madrid is in the position to end the title race in Spanish La Liga.

GOING DOWN – RELEGATION
The end of the 31st round of the German Bundesliga season saw Greuther Furth become the first team in Europe’s top 5 leagues to be relegated.

The list of relegated teams is bound to be extended by the end of this weekend.

 

ARMINIA BIELEFELD VS HERTHA BERLIN
Arminia Bielefeld will also be relegated from the Bundesliga if they suffer defeat against Hertha Berlin.

 

MONTPELLIER VS METZ
Metz is on the brink of relegation from the French Ligue 1. A win at Montpellier is needed for Metz to prolong relegation.

 

EVERTON VS CHELSEA
After the Merseyside derby defeat in the last round, Everton’s fight for safety will continue at home against Chelsea.

Norwich and Watford could be confirming their relegation from the Premier League.

There is a two-horse race going on in the English Premier League (Manchester City and Liverpool) and the Italian Serie A (Inter Milan and AC Milan).

There is no room for error but Manchester City and AC Milan are in control of their destiny in their respective domestic league title race.

Inter Milan blew the chance to take the lead in the Italian Serie A title race after losing 2-1 at Bologna. AC Milan keeps the 2-point lead in the title race.
In their next fixtures, AC Milan will be home against a Fiorentina side that is coming from a 4-0 defeat against Udinese, while Inter Milan will be away against a Udinese side that is coming from a 4-0 win against Fiorentina.

 

ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE

Manchester City and Liverpool enter the Premier League weekend with midweek first-leg victories from their respect UEFA Champions League semifinal matches.

NEWCASTLE VS LIVERPOOL
Newcastle will be looking for their fifth league win in a row and a chance to measure their progress when they take on a Liverpool side that beat them 3-1 in the reverse fixture and is also in a two-horse race for the league title.

Liverpool can only afford the dropping of points if Manchester City does the same. Liverpool’s most recent league defeat was 14 rounds ago in a narrow 1-0 defeat at Leicester on December 28, 2021.

LEEDS UNITED VS MANCHESTER CITY
Leeds United might just be safe from relegation but can’t let their guards down against a Manchester City team that won 7-0 in the reverse fixture. Manchester City keeps their lead in the Premier League title race with a win at Leeds.

West Ham United has the Europa League route.
It is up to Arsenal to protect the top 4th place from the chasing pack.

Arsenal and Tottenham have a maximum of 15 points to chase.
West Ham has a maximum of 12 points to chase.
Manchester United has a maximum of 9 points to chase.

Leverkusen will host Frankfurt.
It could be a tough one for Levekerkusen to hold on to 3rd place.

Freiburg were 4-1 winners in the most recent meeting in the Round of 16 of the German Cup, but they lost in the reverse fixture. Another good news for Freiburg is that their last three visits to Hoffenheim have ended with them on the winning end of the score.

TURKEY: TRABZONSPOR VS ANTALYASPOR

Trabzonspor is on the brink of ending a 38-year drought.
They are a point away from being Turkish Super Lig champions.

Trabzonspor are scheduled to play on Saturday but they will be crowned champions before taking to the field if Fenerbahce fails to get a win against Gaziantep on Friday.
