Manchester United is bottom of the league with West Ham right above them. The two clubs were chasing Europa League football at the end of last season.

Aston Villa and Everton were both in need of results to amend their opening round defeat. A 2-1 victory allowed Aston Villa to achieve that goal at Everton’s expense. Two defeats aren’t the start Everton wanted for their redemption season.

Gabriel Jesus scored two and assisted in the other two goals for Arsenal to grab another league victory to stay with a 100% winning start to the season. Arsenal beat Leicester City 4-2.

Goals from Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne, and Phil Foden sent Manchester City into the interval with a 3-0 lead and a confirmation of three points for the round. Manchester City picked up a comfortable 4-0 win against Bournemouth.

Leeds was looking for their second win in two matches but gave up a 2-goal lead to allow Southampton to avoid suffering a second defeat in two matches. It finished as a 2-2 draw at St. Mary’s Stadium.

Four goals, four goal scorers. Brentford used the opening half to thrash Manchester United. Both clubs were going for their first win of the season but it was Manchester United that needed to make amends for a defeat.

Newly-promoted Nottingham Forest got their first Premier League victory and kept West Ham without a point in the standings. West Ham probably didn’t deserve to leave empty-handed but it was not their day.

The battles on the sideline might have been a tad hotter than the battle on the pitch, but both Chelsea and Tottenham avoided defeat by sharing the points in a heated London derby at Stamford Bridge.
Tottenham came from a goal down on two occasions to snatch a point at Stamford Bridge.

A 10-man Liverpool picked up two points from their opening two games after coming from behind to rescue a point at home against Crystal Palace. Darwin Nunez picked up a red card on his home debut for Liverpool.
