Both Real Madrid and Barcelona needed extra time to decide their match.
While Real Madrid came from an improbable circumstance to win their game, Barcelona couldn’t.

ELCHE 1-0 REAL MADRID (aet)
Going down a man and a goal from the resulting foul did not stop Real Madrid from advancing to the quarterfinal.
Marcelo received a red card booking in the 102nd minute for a foul that was deemed to be denying a goalscoring opportunity. The resulting freekick led to the opening goal of the match to get Elche a lead at home.
Down a man and a goal did not stop Real Madrid from making a comeback. Isco deflected Dani Ceballos’ shot into the net to level things in the 108th minute before Eden Hazard made a smart run behind the defensive line to score the winning goal in the 115th minute.

ATHLETIC CLUB 3-2 BARCELONA (aet)
The holders are out.
Pedri scored at the death of the regular minutes (90+3’) to get Barcelona level for an extension into extra time but Iker Munian scored his second of the match from the penalty spot to get Athletic Club the winning goal at the end of the first half of extra time.
