The completion of the 2019/20 Spanish La Liga season. Real Madrid wins the title but Lionel Messi steals the show.

For the second year in a row the league leaders ended the season with 87 points.

Leganes narrowly missed out on saving their place in the league after a 2-2 draw with Real MAdrid failed to give them the points needed to avoid relegation.
Leganes relegation meant safety for Celta Vigo.

Granada qualified for the second round qualifying stage of the 2020/21 UEFA Europa League, while Villarreal and Real Sociedad secured places in the Europa League.

Alaves finished 16th after finishing 11th
Athletic Club finished 11th after 8th last year.
Atletico Madrid 3rd from 2nd
Barcelona lost the title finishing 2nd
Celta Vigo finished 17th again. Narrowly escaping relegation again.
Eibar finished 12th. 2 positions better than last season.
Espanyol went from 7th place to relegation. Finished at the bottom of the league.
Getafe dropped from 5th place to 8th place finish.
Granada secured the 7th spot in their first season.
Leganes are relegated on the final day after finishing 13th in the league last season.
Levante finished 3 positions better in 12th.
Mallorca couldn’t stay up after promotion.
Osasuna finished mid table (10th) after promotion.
Real Betis finished 15th after a 10th place finish the season before.
Real Madrid won the league after a third place finish last year.
Real Socieadad finished three positions better, from 9th to 6th.
Sevilla qualifies for Champions League football by finishing 4th. Two positions better.
Valencia fell from 4th to 9th.
Valladolid improved from 16th-place finish to 13th this season.
Villarreal made the jump from 14th last season to 5th this season.

Granada was the best performer of the promoted sides.
Mallorca were the only promoted team that failed to avoid relegation, while both Granad and Osasuna finished in the top half of the team .

19. Mallorca – 33 points.

Lionel Messi becomes the league top scorer for a record 7th-time; separating himself from Telmo Zarra.
Lionel Messi registered a record 21 assist in one season; dethroning Xavi Hernandez. (21 assist is also the European record.
For three consecutive seasons, the top scorer and top assists have been Lionel Messi.
Lionel Messi now holds the record for most goals in a single season (50) and most assist (21).
