EFL CUP FINAL

Sun Feb 27

The EFL Cup has a new owner for the first time since 2018.
For the first time since 2016, the Cup winner will not be from Manchester; it’s off to Liverpool. Klopp’s Liverpool celebrated a title win against Tuchel’s Chelsea.

CHELSEA 0-0 LIVERPOOL

Missed scoring opportunities and cancellation of goals by offside calls gave us a goalless 120+ minutes. In the end, Liverpool won their first EFL Cup title in 10 years after an 11-10 win in the penalty shootouts.

LIVERPOOL: James Milner, Fabinho, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Joto, Divock Origi, Andrew Robertson, Harvey Elliott, Ibrahima Knoate, Caoimhim Kelleher
CHELSEA: Marcos Alonso, Romelu Lukaku, Kai Harvetz, Reece James, Jorginho, Antonio Rudiger, N’Golo Kante, Timo Werner, Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalibah, Kepa Arrizabalaga (miss)

NO SAVES WERE MADE IN THE PENALTY SHOOTOUT.
ONLY ONE MISS.
KEPA ARRIZABALAGA WAS A GOAL AWAY FROM RESTARTING THE KICKOFF ORDER.

A proven tactical decision to bring on Kepa Arrizabalaga for the penalty shootouts failed to replicate past results for Chelsea.
Kepa Arrizabalaga entered the game in the final 2 minutes to replace Eduaord Mendy in goal for the penalty shootouts. Kepa did not make any saves and ended up being the only player who failed to convert his penalty kick into a goal.
