Las Palmas couldn’t hold on to an early lead at home and finished the match with fewer men against a struggling Deportivo La Coruna.

After three league matches without a victory for Espanyol, Granada was the perfect opportunity to put an ended the bad run.

Granada continues to be a strong contender for relegation.

When defenders score, it is usually considered as a goal from an ‘unlikely’ source.  But when the defender is Sergio Ramos, that is a very likely source.

Real Madrid bounced back from defeat in their recent matches to get a home victory against Malaga.

Valencia remains undefeated after the La Liga winter break. A consecutive victory has allowed Valencia to move to away from the drop zone.

 

Looking at how their seasons have been going, Villarreal at home was the clear favorite in this fixture.

Vicente Iborra was filled with goals as he scored three in this match, two for Sevilla and the other for Osasuna.

Pablo Sarabia’s goal at the end of the second half for Sevilla became very important after  Kenan Kodro score a minute later for Osasuna.

Sevilla finished at the right end of a seven-goal thriller. They got the maximum points and stay on the heels of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga.

After a quick goal to take the lead, Atletico Madrid found themselves a losing with at about a third of the match left to play.

Antoine Griezmann eighth minute strike helped Atletico Madrid to an away point against Athletic Club. Fitting result for an even contest

Sporting Gijon ended a losing streak of four league matches by holding Real Betis to a draw.  

Sporting Gijon needed more than a draw to improve their chances of coming out of the relegation zone.

 

Real Sociedad                               1-0                 Celta Vigo

A single goal in the second half was the difference maker. Real Sociedad defeated Celta Vigo and opened an eight-point gap between the two teams.

The victory also brought Real Sociedad level on points with Atletico Madrid in the standings.
