As things stand, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are chasing second place.
Real Sociedad, Villarreal, and Real Betis are chasing the final slot for the Champions League qualification. Villarreal and Real Betis were winners over the round, Real Sociedad suffered a Basque derby defeat.

With 9 rounds left to go of the Spanish La Liga season, Barcelona’s lead has shrunk to 11 points.
Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid both hit the 60-point mark.
Real Betis moved up to 5th to replace Villarreal. Real Betis were winners against Espanyol, while Villarreal was beaten at home by Valladolid.

Girona moved two positions up to 9th with a win over bottom-tabled Elche.
Rayo Vallecano moved up a position to 8th after beating Osasuna. – Osasuna dropped two positions down to 10th.
Valladolid moved up three positions to 14th with their win over Valencia.

Inaki Williams scored both goals for Athletic Club’s 2-0 Basque derby win over Real Sociedad.

Real Betis used a 3-1 win over Espanyol to end a run of consecutive defeats.
It was the 6th straight defeat for Espanyol.

The goals came in quick succession (72nd and 76th minute) for Real Madrid to gain three points at Cadiz.

Barcelona is without a win in the league in 3 straight games without also finding the next. A goalless draw with Getafe was the 7th point dropped out of a possible 9.

Antoine Griezmann scored two goals – the match-opening goal and another to restore the lead for Atletico Madrid to stretch their winning streak in the league to 6 matches with a 2-1 win over Almeria. Atletico Madrid is unbeaten in the league in 13 matches (10 wins).

It’s two wins in three unbeaten league matches for Sevilla after a 2-0 win at Valencia.
