#SOTW – A brace to help crawl out of relegation

They made their own luck. These are the players that were instrumental in their team’s performance over the past weekend.

As it is with every other week, picking the outright brightest star is never easy, and sometimes blinding. There were many bright spots over the weekend, but these are the men that were able to make our list.

The final shortlist for #SOTW included…

Ademola Lookman (RB Leipzig vs Wolfsburg) – German Bundesliga
Thilo Kehrer (Augsburg vs Schalke 04) – German Bundesliga
Mario Gomez (Stuttgart vs Hoffenheim) – German Bundesliga
Douglas Costa (Juventus vs Bologna) – Italian Serie A
Kike (Girona vs Eibar) – Spanish La Liga
Pascal Gross (Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester United) – English Premier League
Moussa Sylla (Caen vs Monaco) – French Ligue 1
Dimitri Payet (Marseille vs Lyon) – French Ligue 1

But the SOTW will have to go to
Nicolas Pepe (Toulouse vs Lille) – French Ligue 1

For scoring two goals (including the winning goal) for Lille to get an important away victory against Toulouse. The result allowed relegation-threatened Lille to come out of the drop-zone and have control of their destiny.
