Belgian strikers scored for their respective teams to decide this match. On the balance of gameplay, both teams deserved a point from this match.

Romelu Lukaku added to his goalscoring tally and gave Everton a goal lead in the first half. Five minutes after the restart, Christian Benteke leveled it up for the away side.

A win could have sent Everton to second place in the league standings.

Both teams have started their season better than most would have expected.

Liverpool came from a goal down to win their 5th league match out of seven. It was a win that piled pressure on Swansea City, their fourth defeat in a row.

Diego Costa got back to scoring as Chelsea bounced back from their defeat against Arsenal with a 2-0 win against newly promoted Hull City. Two second half goals within six minutes gave the Chelsea all three points from this match.

 

Sunderland                              1-1          West Bromwich Albion

Sunderland gets their second point of the season.

Patrick van Aanholt rescued Sunderland from another Premier League defeat with a goal in the 83rd minute.  Sunderland remains winless after 7 matches in the 2016/17 Premier League season.

 

Watford                       2-2                     AFC Bournemouth

The teams came into the match tied on points on the league table and finished just as they started.  

Watford had to come from behind on two occasions to get a draw against AFC Bournemouth.

 

West Ham                 1-1              Middlesbrough

West Ham United gets their first point of the season after their opening day win at home to AFC Bournemouth.

 

Newly promoted Middlesbrough were close to grabbing their second win of the season until Dimitri Payet’s solo effort rescued West Ham United from a consecutive home defeat.

Manchester United               1-1             Stoke City

Despite Stoke City being on the backfoot for the majority of the match, they held Manchester United to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford. Joe Allen’s 82nd-minute goal denied Manchester United maximum points at home.

 

Leicester City                         0-0                   Southampton

 

It was a goalless draw between defending champions Leicester City and Southampton. A point was fair for both sides at the end of the day.

 

Tottenham Hotspur                 2-0            Manchester City

Dele Alli 37’

 

Manchester City suffered their first loss under Pep Guardiola.

Tottenham moves a point closer to the top of the table with a home win against league leaders Manchester City.

Early own goal by Aleksandar Kolarov gave Tottenham the best start to the match. Dele Alli doubled the lead for Tottenham before the break.

Erik Lamela had an opportunity to extend Tottenham lead to three from the spot but missed the penalty.

 

Burnley            0-1              Arsenal

                                               Laurent Koscielny 90’ + 3

 

It was a delight for Arsenal as the stole it late against Burnley with the last kick of the match.

After a goalless match during regulation, Laurent Koscielny made late pressure from Arsenal pay off with a late goal deep in additional time.
