Portugal and Austria play out a draw.

Group F

Parc des Princes, Paris

Portugal 0-0 Austria

The second goalless draw in the 2016 European Championship was between Portugal and Austria.

Austria’s goalkeeper Robert Almer, and their back four (Christian Fuchs, Martin Hinteregger, Sebastian Prodl and Florian Klein) made it a tough day for Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo.

After a disappointing start to their tournament, these two teams meet to score their first win. Portugal was strong in the match against Iceland but failed to grab a winning goal. Austria fell flat to Hungary and are now looking to get some points on the table.

It wasn’t a day for Portugal to win. After another dominant performance, Cristiano Ronaldo and his crew couldn’t grab a win.

A penalty awarded to Portugal in the 79th minute was looking like a chance for an opening goal for Portugal in this match and for Cristiano in this tournament.

The goalkeeper completely missed the direction but the post was there to save Austria.

Austria will be happy with the outcome as they would have stolen a victory if any of their few attempts at an attack had resulted in a goal.

Portugal will be facing group F leaders Hungary in their final match, and Austria is going to meet a stubborn Iceland team that does not know how to lose a match in the 2016 European Championship.

There could be some late drama in Group F.

As it stands…
