From 32 down to 16. Both of last season’s finalists advanced to the fought round.
There were bound to be at least 5 Premier League clubs ending the chase since some teams had to face another Premier League side. In the end, 7 Premier League teams were eliminated: Manchester United, Everton, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle United eliminated Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton, and Manchester City respectively, while Luton Town and Wolves were knocked out by teams from the third-tier and second-tier respectively.
Mansfield Town (4th-tier) used a late goal force a penalty shootout, and won to advance at the expense of Perterborough United (3rd-tier)
Chelsea in their poor form managed a win against Brighton.

The fourth round of the EFL Cup will be in October.

The first leg fixtures of the 2023 Copa Libertadores semifinal.

Both matches ended in a draw. Internacional and Palmeiras will take the battle home, as Fluminense and Boca Juniors couldn’t take make the full use of their home advantage in the first leg.

DFB-POKAL – Outstanding matches
Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig were competing in the DFL-Supercup final while the other 60 of the 64 clubs were playing in the DFB-Pokal’s first round.

Eredivisie – Outstanding Fixtures.
Ajax’s match against Volendam has been postponed to allow for the completion of the abandoned weekend fixture with Feyenoord. The game was suspended in the early minutes of the second half, with Feyenoord up 3-0. – The eventual result was a 4-0 win for Feyenoord, with Santiago Gimenez getting a hattrick.
PSV Einhdoven picked up three more points to remain at the top of the table, while AZ Alkmaar dropped points in a 1-1 draw with promoted Heracles.
