Espanyol staged a remarkable comeback from three goals down to draw 3-3 with Atletico Madrid, a result that keeps them in the fight against relegation. Atletico, on the other hand, saw their hopes of finishing second in La Liga take a blow as they dropped to third place.
Getafe earned three points to help their relegation battle, while also ending Real Betis’s Champions League qualification hopes. Villarreal secured a top-six finish and a place in the Europa League as a result, but they remain in contention for the final Champions League qualification spot with Real Sociedad. A Real Sociedad victory in the next round would guarantee them a top-four finish.
There is the mathematical possibility but it is highly improbable for Real Betis to not clinch Europa League.
Osasuna defeated Athletic Club 2-0 to take over 7th place, which is the final Europa Conference League playoff qualification spot. The two teams will have two more rounds to compete for the spot with Girona, Sevilla, and Mallorca.
