MGSVfutbol ‘Star of the Weekend’

In a weekend that brought us a lot of traditional mouth-watering fixtures, we knew that the picking of the #SOTW was going to be a difficult one. There shockers and close calls. Some runs came to an end, but all the teams at the top of the major leagues in Europe kept their place for at least another round.

Picking the outright brightest star is never easy, and sometimes blinding.  There were many bright spots over the weekend, but these are the men that were able to make our list.

The final shortlist for #SOTW included…

Corentin Tolisso (Hamburger SV vs Bayern Munich) – German Bundesliga

Niclas Füllkrug (Augsburg vs Hannover  96) – German Bundesliga

Nuno Da Costa (Nice vs Strasbourg) – French Ligue 1

Memphis Depay (Troyes vs Lyon) – French Ligue 1

Harry Kane (Tottenham vs Liverpool) – Italian Serie A

Sami Khedira (Udinese vs Juventus) – Italian Serie A

Edinson Cavani (Marseille vs Paris Saint-Germain) – French Ligue 1

But the SOTW will have to go to

Cesar Azpilicueta

(Chelsea vs Watford) – English Premier League

For scoring the winning goal for Chelsea to avoid dropping more points in their title defense season in the Premier League.
