In Glendale, Arizona,

Mexico gets an amazing start to their Copa America Centenario tournament.

Mexico becomes the first CONCACAF team to get a win in the Copa America Centenario.

Mexico scores early courtesy of an own goal. Alvaro Pereira. 4th minute. It was a debatable own-goal. A beautiful cross from Guardado was met on by the head of Herrera.

Exciting second half. Late excitement.

Uruguay goes a man down. After Matias Vecino gets sent off for a second yellow card in the 45th minute. 18 minutes after his first. Both deserved cards.

Mexico goes a man down. Andres Guardado sent off after receiving a second yellow card in the 73rd minute. A yellow card received in the 25th minute came back to haunt him.

The captains did their fair share of the job. Godin gave Uruguay an equalizer and Rafael Marquez gave Mexico the win.

Uruguay evens the score. Diego Godin scores in the 75th minute after heading in a cross from a free kick awarded after Andres Guardado was sent off.

With even men on the field, it was game on for both teams. You would have given the advantage to Uruguay as they had played with a 10 man team from the start if first half and Mexico was yet to adjust to playing with a man down.

Mexico has been on an undefeated run since 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup, and they showed us why this has been the case.

Mexico scores the winner. Rafael Marquez got the winning goal in the 85th minute.  It as a forward’s type of strike into the roof of the net, leaving very little room for error and little chance to be saved.

Mexico adds to the winning go with an extra time goal. 92nd minute. Hector Herrera scored in extra time after his early goal was given as an own goal.

Mexico sits on top of Group C. Uruguay drops to the bottom of the table. Venezuela and Jamaica are sandwiched between the two, with Venezuela equaling the same points as Mexico and Jamaica having the same points as Jamaica.

Uruguay will face Venezuela in the next Group C match in a desperate need for a win.

Mexico goes in against a familiar opposition, Jamaica. Just like Uruguay, the need for a win is massive for the ‘Reggae Boys’

Things are setting up for an emotional ending to Group C.
