Manchester City is putting pressure on Arsenal, while Liverpool found relief in a Merseyside derby.

Arsenal’s lead in the Premier League title race had been trimmed down to three points after a draw with Brentford was matched with a Manchester City win against Aston Villa.
Manchester City needs a win against Arsenal to equal points accumulated.
The occupants of the ‘top 4’ spots in the league remain the same; with the Manchester clubs picking up victories.

A Merseyside derby win moved Liverpool up a position to 9th, while Chelsea dropped a position down to 10th after another draw.
The occupants of the relegation zone stayed as they are, even though Bournemouth managed to pick up a point.

Arsenal dropped points in consecutive league matches after following a ‘1-0’ defeat to Everton with a 1-1 draw at home against Brentford.
Brentford has 5 wins and 5 draws from their last 10 league matches after coming from a goal down to pick up a point at Emirates Stadium to stop Arsenal from bouncing back from a defeat (at Everton) with a win.

Chelsea has three points from their last three league matches.
Just as they did against Newcastle in the last round, West Ham came from behind in the first half to gain a ‘1-1’ draw that also extended Chelsea’s winless run to three draws.

Going a goal up in the 14th minute did not prevent Tottenham from following their victory against Manchester City with a 4-1 defeat at Leicester.
Leicester City goes from a ‘4-2’ win against Aston Villa to a ‘4-1’ win against Tottenham.

Wolves was down a goal and a man in the opening half hour. Carlos Alcaraz scored in the 24th minute to get Southampton a goal up, and Mario Lemina picked up his second yellow card three minutes later to leave Wolves with 10 men. The disadvantage didn’t stop Wolves from ending the match with a 2-1 win. Joao Gomes scored the winning goal in the 87th minute.

There was no home advantage.
It took 80 minutes for the game-opening goal but Manchester United got the result to follow a ‘2-2’ home draw with Leeds United with a ‘2-0’ away win over Leeds United.
Marcus Rashford scored the opening/winning goal. Alejandro Garnacho scored to double the lead in the 85th minute.

Manchester City bounced back from defeat in London (against Tottenham).
The last time Aston Villa came to the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City had to recover from 2 goals down to get a 3-2 win to secure the Premier League title on the final day of the season. After an away defeat to Tottenham, Manchester City needed a home against Aston Villa to keep up the pace with Arsenal. They only needed the first half to do that.
It could’ve been by more goals if Manchester City was clinical, but a ‘3-0’ first-half lead took them to a win against Aston Villa to bounce them back from defeat to Tottenham in the previous round.
Rodri opened the scoring in the 4th minute to get Manchester City comfortable. Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez added the other two goals at the end of the half.
