Dijon                                         1-2                           Marseille

Mehdi Abeid 78’                                                     Maxime Lopez 5’

                                                                                  Bafetimbi Gomez 87’

After giving up an early lead late in the match, Marseille was allowed to leave Dijon with the maximum points after Bafetimbi Gomis scored a late winner.  Three consecutive undefeated league matches for Marseille.

Bordeaux                                  0-4                        Monaco

                                                                                 Djibril Sidibe 2’

                                                                                 Radamel Falcao 5’ 50’ 64’(pen)

Allow  Monaco a goal and they won’t stop scoring.

Radamel Falcao scored a hattrick while Monaco thrashed Bordeaux in front of their home crowd.

Nancy                                         2-0                       Angers

Issa Dia 29’

Loic Puyo 63’

A goal in each half gave newly-promoted Nancy a home victory over Angers.  A victory that allowed Nancy to tie Angers on points in the league standings.

Lille                                              2-1                       Montpellier

Nicolas De Preville 5’                                            Steve Mounie 81’

Younousse Sankharé 38’

Lille leaped over Montpellier in the league standings after beating them with through two first-half goals.

Steve Mounie made things a little interesting towards the end of the match when he scored for Montpellier to cut Lille’s lead in half.  Unfortunately for Montpellier, that was the only goal they were able to get from this match.

Bastia                                            2-0                      Metz

Gael Danic 23’

Allan Saint-Maximin 75’

Bastia climbed out of relegation zone with a victory over newly-promoted Metz.

A goal in each half helped Bastia to bring an end to 9 consecutive winless league matches.

Toulouse                                        3-2                    Lorient

Ola Toivonen 8’ 20’ 61’                                         Benjamin Moukandjo 27’

                                                                                  Abdul Majeed Waris 90’

We expected Toulouse to get a home victory against a struggling Lorient side and they did.

Lorient got a late goal to give us an interesting end to the match, but there wasn’t enough time for any surprises.

Nantes -(POSTPONED)- Caen

Postponed due to heavy fog.

Lyon                                         1-0                                   Rennes

Mathieu Valbuena 28’

Lyon used home advantage to defeat Rennes and leap over them in the league standings by a point.  With a game in hand, Lyon is in a great position to battle for a top four finish in the 2016/17 French Ligue 1.

Saint- Etienne                            1-0                              Guingamp

Romain Hamouma 25’

A single goal in the first half was enough to see Saint-Etienne through to a home victory over Guingamp.

Paris Saint-Germain                      2-2               OGC Nice

Edinson Cavani 47’ 60’                                         Wylan Cyprien 32’

                                                                                  Alassane Plea 45’+3’

You would have a strong argument if you felt thought Paris Saint-Germain avoided a home defeat just as well as you would if you felt like they dropped valuable points.

OGC Nice did enough clinical work in front of goal in the first half to secure an away point against Paris Saint-Germain.  The point was enough to keep OGC Nice on top of the French Ligue 1 standings for another round.

A victory for PSG could have tightened  the already tight top three positions in the 2016 French Ligue 1 standings.
