Kroos saves Germany at the death while Belgium and Tunisia brought goals to Day 10 of the 2018 FIFA World Cup

Group G – Belgium vs Tunisia

Date – June 23, 2018

Venue – Spartak Arena

Goal scorers – (Belgium) Eden Hazard 6’ 51’, Romelu Lukaku 16’ 45+4’, Michy Batshuayi 90’

Goal scorers – (Tunisia) Dylan Bronn 18’ Wahbi Khazri 90+3’

 

Belgium has a foot in the ‘Round of 16’

Tunisia is eliminated after a 7-goal thriller with Belgium. Romelu Lukaku scored a brace to add his name to the early ‘Golden Boot’ race.

 

Group F – South Korea vs Mexico

Date – June 23, 2018

Venue – Rostov-on-Don

Goal Scorers – (Mexico) – Carlos Vela 26’ Javier Hernandez 66’

Goal scorers – (South Korea) – Heung-Min Son 90+3’

Javier Hernandez scored the match-winning goal that was also his 50th goal for Mexico.

Mexico eliminated South Korea and will just need to avoid a 2-goal defeat to Sweden in the final group game to book their place I  the Round of 16.

Group F – Germany vs Sweden

Date – June 23, 2018

Venue – Fisht Olympic Stadium

Goal scorers – (Germany) – Marco Reus 48’ Toni Kroos 90’+5

Goal scorers – (Sweden) -Ola Toivonen 32’

 

Jerome Boateng sees red, but Germany pulled through with Toni Kroos’s late winning goal.  

Defeat would have eliminated the defending champions and Germany had to go through a tough test to get a needed victory against Sweden – A forced substitution early in the game, going into the halftime break a goal down and being reduced to 10 men when they were chasing for the winning goal.  

 

Toni Kroos wins the game for Germany at the death when he curled in the ball from an acute angle to score a goal that broke Swedish hearts.

Even with a numerical advantage, Sweden couldn’t stop an inspired German side from getting the maximum points. Germany scored two second-half goals to come from behind a win get their first win in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
