ITALIAN SERIE A – ROUND 11
Atalanta will host Lazio.
There is a slim gap between the two on the league table. Both teams are within a victory from the ‘top four’; with Atalanta a point ahead of Lazio.
A win for Hellas Verona will have them leap above Juventus in the standings.
It was Hellas Verona’s heroics that got Juventus the Champions League qualification spot at the end of last season but now Juventus is in search of a victory to recover from the defeat against Sassuolo.
Roma needs the points against an unbeaten At Milan to keep their place in the top four white AC Milan needs the points to ensure they stay on equal points with Napoli at the top of the table. There is a 9-point gap between second-place AC Milan and fourth place Roma.
AC Milan will not be expecting any favors from newly-promoted Salernitana in their tie with Napoli. An unbeaten Napoli is expected to get a win on the road to keep the top spot.
Should Napoli do the expected, AC Milan will need a victory in Rome.

ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE – ROUND 10
Chelsea is only a point clear at the top of the Premier League standings.
There isn’t enough room for points to be dropped when Liverpool and Manchester City are within a win from equalling or surpassing them.
Chelsea will need a win at Newcastle to keep their place at the top of the standings.
To keep second-place and a chance of finishing top of the table at the end of the round, an unbeaten Liverpool will look to open a 9-point gap between themselves and Brighton.
The alternative will be that Brighton makes up for their defeat to Manchester City in the last round and get something out of this tie.
Manchester City is two points from the top and will take on a Crystal Palace side with one win from their opening nine matches. A win here keeps Manchester City’s charge to defend their title on the right track.
The bottom three teams (Burnley, Newcastle, and Norwich)
are all still without a win. All three are playing at home in this round. Newcastle has a challenging task against league leaders Chelsea, Burnley will take on Brentford, and Norwich takes Leeds.
Leicester City hosts Arsenal with both teams coming into the tie with identical records and on 14 points.
Manchester United and Tottenham are both in search of a win to bounce back from last round’s defeat. A draw will leave Tottenham a point ahead of Manchester United but both teams will need the victory to boost morale.
Everton is just a point ahead of Wolves so they can’t make it a third successive defeat. After a 5-2 defeat in the last round (vs Watford), Everton will try their luck at Wolverhampton.

FRENCH LIGUE 1 – ROUND 12
The current league leaders and the defending champions go at each other in Paris.
Paris St. Germain is home against Lille.
Both teams are coming to this fixture from a draw in the last round. Lille’s title defense has not gone to plan while Paris St. Germain might be getting the results but there are still questions about their performance.
Lens keep second place if they keep Lyon at mid-table.
Nice (with a victory against Angers) is the only team that can take second-place away from Lens [should Lens suffer defeat at Lyon].
There are five teams in position to equal Nice in points accumulated if Nice is beaten at Angers.
Angers is one of the five. Marseille, Rennes, Nantes, and Monaco are the other four
Saint-Etienne and Brest are still looking for their first win of the season. 20th-placed Saint-Etienne will get one of the best chances to get this victory when they face 19th-place Metz.

SPANISH LA LIGA – ROUND 12
Getafe and Levante are the two teams without a win in the Spanish La Liga after both playing all 11 of their opening matches. Both teams will be playing at home this round. Levante host Granda while Getafe get Espanyol.
Barcelona under new management will try and avoid making it a third straight league victory when they host Alaves.
Barcelona has a 6-point lead on an Alaves side that is hovering over the relegation zone. Unlike Barcelona, Alaves are on track to get a third straight win.
Real Madrid, Sevilla, and Real Betis are all on 21 points, with Real Betis being the only one without an outstanding fixture.
Atletico Madrid’s game in hand will come in handy if they can bounce back from the points dropped against Levante in the last round with a victory against a Real Betis team that is coming off a 4-1 win against Valencia.
Real Madrid will attempt to make up for the points dropped against Osasuna with a win at Elche.
Sevilla will try to do what Real Madrid couldn’t do by getting three points at home against Osasuna. It will be Sevilla’s means to make up for the points dropped against Mallorca.
Rayo Vallecano will hope to follow up a win against Barcelona with another against Celta Vigo.
Rayo Vallecano is touching distance from being in the Champions League qualification spots; a win against Celta Vigo will be of assistance. On the other hand, Celta Vigo will be going for points to make up for their defeat to Real Sociedad in the last round.

Only Dortmund can take full advantage of a Bayern Munich slip-up.
Bayern Munich has a point lead on Dortmund in the title race.
Freiburg is also a win away from equalling the points at the top.
Freiburg will get a chance to add to their point tally when they host recently-promoted Greuther Furth who are without a win in the opening nine matches; including eight defeats.
There are eight points between Dortmund and FC Koln. Dortmund will be looking to extend the gap to 11 points and hope that Bayern Munich will shed some points in Berlin.
Union Berlin will open the title race if they can reduce the six points gap between them and Bayern Munich. It is a difficult task that has been made more difficult because Bayern Munich is coming to this match with a bruised ego from the thrashing they received in the German Cup. (5-0 defeat against Monchengladbach)
But if Monchengladbach can do it, why can’t Union Berlin?
Arminia Bielefeld will host Mainz
Arminia Bielefeld is looking for their first win of the season and also revenge for their midweek exit from the German Cup at the hands of Mainz.
Unfortunately for Arminia Bielefeld, Mainz is showing signs of a team that has rediscovered their winning form.
RB Leipzig is a win from the top four, so a win at Frankfurt will offer some assistance.
Leverkusen and Wolfsburg will want the result to stop a poor streak. Wolfsburg is without a win since winning the open four rounds while
Leverkusen is without a win in their last four competitive matches.
