Borussia Dortmund                      3-0                 Wolfsburg

Jeffrey Bruma 20’(o.g)
Łukasz Piszczek 48’
Ousmane Dembele 59’

Three goals scored with the head.

The inconsistent Borussia Dortmund of the 2016-17 Bundesliga season found a deserving victory against Wolfsburg; avoiding three straight defeats in all competitions.

Dortmund moves to third place in the standings, 13 points away from their fellow pre-season favorites Bayern Munich.

Mainz 05                       0-2                       Werder Bremen

                                                                                             Serge Gnabry 16’
                                                                                            Thomas Delaney 23

Werder Bremen tactically defeated Mainz 05.

Two goals in the first half of the first-half saw Werder Bremen leave Mainz 05 with all three points from this fixture.

Hertha Berlin                          1-1                      Bayern Munich

Vedad Ibisevic 21’                                                                    Robert Lewandowski 90’+7’

Bayern will score if you give them the time.

Robert Lewandowski scored a really late equalizer in stoppage time for Bayern Munich to leave Berlin with a point. It was a well-deserved point for the display of the current Bundesliga champions.

After Vedad Ibisevic got on the end of the ball to give Hertha Berlin an early lead through a free kick that should have probably not been awarded, Hertha stayed organised through the match and limited Bayern Munich’s chances of getting an equalizer.

A rebound of Arjen Robben’s shot was toe-poked into the net by Lewandowski to get Bayern the late equalizer that came from a free kick that was almost from the same spot as the one that gave Hertha Berlin the lead.

Hoffenheim                                2-0                       Darmstadt

Andrej Kramaric 64’ 90’+3’

Hoffenheim scored two goals in the second half to get back to winning ways again.

Darmstadt position in the league standings made many fans expect an Hoffenheim home victory.

Eintracht Frankfurt                     0-2                     Ingolstadt

                                                                                                      Romain Bregerie 26’
                                                                                                     Pascal Goss 69’(pen)

It was a consecutive defeat for Eintracht Frankfurt after falling at home to Ingolstadt.

Relegation zoned Ingolstadt was able to pull Eintracht Frankfurt out of the top four in the league standings by handing them a surprise defeat.

Hamburger SV                               2-2                       Freiburg

Aaron Hunt 15’                                                                                    Maximilian Philipp 23’
Michael Gregoritsch 57’                                                                   Vincenzo Grifo 72’

February 19, 2017

Borussia Monchengladbach                       1-2                   RB Leipzig

Jannik Vestergaard 81’                                                                                    Emil Forsberg 31’
                                                                                                                               Timo Werner 55’

RB Leipzig got a victory to put a stop to consecutive defeats. Five points separate them and Bayern Munich at the top of the league standings.

At a ‘1-0’ scoreline, Thorgan Hazard missed a penalty that could have brought Borussia Monchengladbach on level terms. The penalty missed became more expensive when Timo Werner doubled the lead for RB Leipzig and at the final whistle when Borussia Monchengladbach lost by a single goal.

FC Koln                                      1-1                     Schalke 04

Anthony Modeste 43’                                                                 Alessandro Schopf 2’

Schalke could hold on to a very early lead against FC Koln. On the balance of play, both teams deserved the point they got from this fixture.
