Kevin Volland 7’                                Claudio Pizarro 79’

Werder Bremen was the happier of the two sides after a 1-1 draw at the BayArena.

March 11, 2017

Bayern Munich               3-0       Eintracht Frankfurt

Robert Lewandowski 38’ 55’
Douglas Costa 41’

Another league title is looking likely for Bayern Munich.  Robert Lewandowski scored a goal in each half to contribute to Bayern’s expected dominance over Frankfurt.

Hertha Berlin          2-1             Borussia Dortmund

Salomon Kalou 11’                                    Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 55’
Marvin Plattenhardt 71’

Hertha moved closer to the top four while Dortmund is kept stagnant. Hertha Berlin delivered Dortmund’s fifth league defeat of the season.

Darmstadt           2-1          Mainz 05

Aytac Sulu 5’                                     Robin Quaison 45’+4’
Sidney Sam 12’(pen)

Despite remaining at the bottom of the league table, two early goals was good enough for Darmstadt to get their fourth league victory of the season.

Freiburg                 1-1           Hoffenheim

Maximilian Philipp 56’                       Andrej Kramaric 60’

Despite their dominance, Hoffenheim could only get an away draw against Freiburg.

RB Leipzig          0-1         Wolfsburg

                                                        Mario Gomez 9’

Relegation-threatened Wolfsburg protected an early goal and deliver a blow to RB Leipzig title dreams.

RB Leipzig’s defeat allowed Bayern Munich to open a 10 point gap at the top of the league standings. It is difficult to visualize Bayern blowing that many points in the remaining matches of the German Bundesliga.

Ingolstadt           2-2          FC Köln

Dario Lezcano 42’                                Anthony Modeste 15’(pen) 60’
Roman Bregerie 69’

Relegation-zoned Ingolstadt was able to come from a goal down on two occasions to get a point at home against FC Koln.

March 12, 2017

Schalke 04            3-0       Augsburg

Guido Burgstaller  4’ 29’
Daniel Caligiuri 34’

Schalke 04 used home advantage to get a victory to leap over Augsburg in the league standings.

At two-goals down, Paul Verhaegh missed a penalty that would have allowed Augsburg to cut Schalke’s lead in half.

Hamburger SV     2-1       Borussia Monchengladbach

Filip Kostic 36’                                 Andreas Christensen 23’
Bobby Shou Wood 80’

Hamburger SV defeated Monchengladbach to better their chances of getting out of the relegation-playoff zone.
