March 4, 2017

Borussia Dortmund         6-2           Bayer Leverkusen

Ousmane Dembele 6’                                          Kevin Volland 48’
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 26’ 69’               Wendell 74’
Christian Pulisic 77’
Andre Schurrle 85’
Raphael Guerreiro 90’+2’

Bayer Leverkusen tried to make things interesting in the second half when they cut Dortmund’s two-goal lead in half on two occasions.

But after 3-2, Dortmund widened the gap to finish with an important victory to keep them firm in third place for another round.

Mainz 05                  1-1              Wolfsburg

Jhon Córdoba 24’                                     Mario Gómez 20’

Wolfsburg didn’t do enough to get the win but did enough to avoid a third consecutive league defeat. A point is good enough to keep Wolfsburg out of the drop zone. For another round.

FC Koln            0-3              Bayern Munich

                                                             Javier Martinez 25’

Bayern is not slipping at the top of the league standings.

FC Koln was lucky to leave Allianz Arena with a point but in their own backyard, they couldn’t stop Bayern from slapping them with a defeat.

Werder Bremen           2-0           Darmstadt

Max Kruse 75’(pen) 90’+2’

Another defeat for bottom table Darmstadt after Max Kruse scored a brace for Werder Bremen to get a third consecutive league victory.

Hoffenheim              5-2              Ingolstadt

Sebastian Rudy 17’                                        Almog Cohen 38’
Adam Szalai 62’ 79’                                       Niklas Sule 60’(o.g)
Andrej Kramaric 77’
Benjamin Hubner 88’

Upset denied.

After an own goal put them a goal behind against Ingolstadt, Hoffenheim had to regain their lead to avoid a defeat at home.

Four goals scored in the second half was exactly what Hoffenheim needed to exercise their dominance over relegation-zoned Ingolstadt.

Borussia Monchengladbach       4-2        Schalke 04

Fabian Johnson 28’ 64’                                                      Nabil Bentaleb 38’
Oscar Wendt 67’                                                                   Leon Goretzka 82’
Raffael 76’

It was four straight league matches without a victory for Schalke after a defeat away against Monchengladbach.

Monchengladbach enjoys three straight league wins with this result.

Eintracht Frankfurt           1-2          Freiburg

Branimir Hrgota 11’                                           Florian Niederlechner 25’ 59’

Freiburg got an away victory over Eintracht Frankfurt to cut the gap between the two teams down to two points.

Florian Niederlechner scored two goals for Freiburg to come from a goal down and get an away victory over Frankfurt.

Even though they remained in the relegation play-off place in the league table, Hamburger SV did just enough to get a victory at home over a Hertha Berlin team that is hopeful of finishing in a position that will qualify them for a European competition.
