OGC Nice suffered two defeats in a row when newly promoted Troyes managed to find a late goal to pick up an away victory.
Troyes was not the only newly-promoted side doing amazing things in the second round of the 2017/18 French Ligue 1, Strasbourg picked up three points by scoring three late second-half goals Lille. After Lille using all the available substitutes, their goalkeeper Mike Maignan lost his head a threw a ball at a Strasbourg player right in front of the referee. Maignan was given a red card and sent out of the match. Two different outfield players attempted to fill Maignan’s role and conceded three goals before the final whistle.
